Crafted in 15 carat yellow gold, this nostalgic antique brooch, circa 1854-1931, features a yellow gold bar with a safety pin and detachable fine chain. This elegant jewel is adorned with a charming frog embellished with sparkling rubies and garnets, and fitted with a safety chain. We have named her The Ido Brooch, and she makes a whimsical adornment for coats, scarves and dresses.
The Ido Brooch Gem Details
The frog's eyes are two purplish red cabochon rubies measuring 1.00 millimetres. The frog's body is grain set with seventeen round demantoid garnets measuring 1.00 to 1.50 millimetres.
The length of each brooch is 55 millimetres, and the depth is 10 millimetres at the widest point.
Antique, Circa 1854-1931. Some of the demantoid garnets are showing signs of wear and chipping under magnification, to be expected for the age of the brooch.
